The Emerald Club

In the widely distributed billiard hall in China, this repetitive daily space actually presents a social form that changes with geography and time. While we live in a time where reduced social interactions are replaced by social media and the disappearance of 3rd spaces, the billiards club plays a subtle but important roles in these cities, counties and villages, from commercial entertainment spaces, to loose places of stay, and even transformation into public facilities for the elderly. At the same time, this change is also reflected in the structure, light, color and aesthetic form of space, which constitutes perceptible social differences. Through the continuous shooting of these billiard halls it is easy to observe the social structure and evolution of contemporary China.
